Yoga Workshop Saturday June 8, 2024. Responding not Reacting to Stress. 10am to 1pm
How to manage stress, not letting it control us (deeply understanding your fight, flight, freeze, fawn reactions)
What if we could learn, through yoga and meditation and conscious awareness, to recognise our reactions that bring us into a state of bodily, emotional, and mental tension (called the 'stress response')?
We can actively work with our stress responses. Not to try and subdue or deny or repress them. They are body responses, after all. But to honour (safely), and contain the body in its reactions to allow it to work its way through our system so that it can be released. And next time it might be that little bit easier because it's become part of a moving flow of reaction and response rather than staying stuck in the body.
We can become an active participant in our choice of response to our automatic reaction rather than a helpless victim of our circumstances.
Yes, this is possible through yoga and meditation. 👌💖

Comments after a recent workshop with Maria:
If you want a yoga workshop that fits all needs then this is the one for you.  Maria has the ability to make you feel good no matter what your yoga abilities are – the workshops cover the body and the mind – you will walk out feeling on a high and totally in tune with your body.  Totally recommended.

I really enjoyed the first part of the workshop, practising meditation. It was a great way to begin a 3 hour workshop and helped me focus and settle my body and soul. The yoga postures were well-paced with some more challenging than others but you facilitated us all taking them as far as we wanted.Â
I enjoyed the way you enabled us all to do one particular posture with a playful attitude - that really helped to do it and again to go as far as we wanted. I loved the face massage on ourselves - my face automatically became a smile after that and it felt so relaxed. Made me aware how much tension I hold in my face.
The whole workshop was sensitively paced with a break in the middle that gave us all an opportunity to connect with each other or have some space for ourselves.Â
Maria's love of yoga really shines through and is infectious! She is sensitive in how she teaches, gently pointing to any adjustments one can make as well as being encouraging and affirming our efforts. She also brings humour into sessions which helps to bring lightness into our classes. Thank you for a super workshop Maria!

It was so lovely to be at the workshop on Saturday, I really enjoyed it. I always like the way you teach yoga and you always make everyone feel so comfortable so it was a lovely relaxing three hours. Enjoyed the meditation too.

There were many things to commend Saturday’s workshop, beginning with it being given a theme and your following and explaining that theme through the various elements. I liked that there was guided meditation interspersed within yoga exercises.
During the second half of the workshop with your guidance I was challenged to overcome my belief about balance and I felt I achieved much more than I might have expected. The facial massage element was simultaneously stimulating and relaxing.
We experienced such peace I felt that all participants were reluctant to finish. Already looking forward to the next workshop.

The workshop was such a kind and nurturing space to be with my body and mind and soul and take care of myself. The meditations were lovely, especially the chakra one and my whole body felt more flowing and joined up afterwards with less tension and was less quick to get tense when it would normally would have.Â
It was wonderful to have the extra time and really get into the warm ups and gentle movements before doing the stronger postures which then felt really powerful.
Energetically I felt able to approach all sorts of things afterwards, it freed up being able to imagine new solutions and be less stuck. A beautiful way to spend a Saturday morning!
